YogiPlay: My Explorations with Mobile Devices in Education

In middle school, I founded my own mobile software technology firm that developed utilities and applications for the iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7 platforms. My applications were adopted by over 1.6 million users in 80 different countries around the world, inspiring me to consider how mobile technologies could be utilized in the fields of medicine and education to create a tangible impact on a global level. This led to my research in mobile medical virtual reality and educational simulation software.
Throughout my high school years, I continued to collaborate with a mobile education startup based in Menlo Park called YogiPlay. I have been engaged in projects that combine my interest in mobile application programming with my desire to expand access to educational content. The focus of YogiPlay is on creating a hub for educational mobile applications that can allow children to explore meaningful content. One of the projects that I executed in partnership with YogiPlay is a game called Operation Pearl. It originated as a concept I was working on independently. I continued to independently manage all aspects of the coding and development of this project, while collaborating with YogiPlay on the graphics, marketing, and design. Operation Pearl has been downloaded over 90,000 times on three different platforms: the Barnes and Noble Nook Store, the Amazon Kindle Store, and the Google Play App Marketplace.
